What is an Adventurer Club?
The NAD Adventurer Ministries Mission Statement states:The North American Division Adventurer program serves an intercultural community of children Pre-K through 4th grade and their parents and care-givers through a holistic ministry. The purpose of the program is to support parents and care-givers in leading and encouraging their children in a growing, joyful love relationship with Jesus Christ. It offers instructional curriculum, family enrichment, supplementary resources, and volunteer training from within the Seventh-day Adventist philosophy. The Adventurer program should work to fulfill the gospel commission (Matthew 28:18-20) and depends on the support of a congregation strong in mission and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
What are the levels within the Adventurer club?
Pre-Kindergarten: Little Lambs
Kindergarten: Eager Beavers
First Grade: Busy Bee
Second Grade: Sunbeam
Third Grade: Builder
Fourth Grade: Helping Hand
There are so many activities available to children in the Collegedale area, why should my children be involved in the Adventurer program?
Yes, there are many activities available in the Collegedale area for youth. However, this program is for families, not simply the children. It provides a time that the parents, grandparents or other responsible adults to sit down with the children have fun and learn about our Creator.
When will the club meet?
The club will meet every other Wednesday from 6:30 until 8:00 at the Collegedale Church.
Will the children have to purchase uniforms?
A "class B" club T-shirt is included in the price of registration. This shirt will be required for all club meetings. For more formal occasions i.e., participating in church services, certain community service activities etc, we are asking that the children wear a white polo shirt or Peter Pan shirt and khaki pants or skirts. A blue sash will also be included in the price of registration, but will not be immediately available to the children.
What is the cost for the program?
Dues are $80 for the year with $20 to be paid at registration. This includes payment for a t-shirt, sash, scarf, and slide.
I need to go to the grocery store, can I drop my children off and run my errands?
No. Adventurers is a family program. If your child comes with another adult family member then they may participate in the program, but under no circumstances will a child be allowed to be "dropped off" and picked up at the end of the program.
What kind of awards are taught in the Adventurer program?
Many different kinds of awards are taught in the Adventurer program. A sampling of these awards include: Artist, Cyclist, First Aid Helper, Geologist, Media Critic, Skier, Wise Steward, and Early Adventist Pioneer.
Do I have to be a member of Collegedale Church to be a part of the Adventurer program?
No.
Are there conference sponsored events for Adventurers?
Yes. In the spring, the conference sponsors a Family Fun Day (1 day event) or Family Fun Weekend (3 day event) for Adventurers and their families. The club is responsible for providing and running a game that is tied to that year's theme. It is a one day event at Cohutta Springs.
