Teresa Melton

Teresa has her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, plus an additional 30 credit hours in Clinical Mental Health. She is a Certified Life Coach and has been working in her own private practice in Family and Mental Health for 6 years. In addition, Teresa is a Certified Nutrigenomics Provider, meaning she can conduct genetic testing to determine the propensity for mental and other health disorders, and recommend natural or nutritional treatments and other lifestyle changes to reduce the negative potentials of genetic mutations. She has had particular success in helping clients overcome chronic depression, generalized anxiety, manic-depressive disorder, ADD, ADHD, SAD (Seasonal Affect Disorder) and OCD by looking at and treating the genetic components involved.

Teresa has worked in the counseling field for 20+ years in many arenas – school counseling, court systems, high risk youth, domestic abuse, in-patient and out-patient mental health, in-home comprehensive child and family therapy, crisis intervention, disaster response, grief therapy, aging and dying, etc. Teresa’s favorite expertise lies in working with individuals and with couples struggling with marital, sexual or parental issues. She also has enjoyed using pet therapy to help traumatized children open up, and has a trained therapy dog named Tango (a border collie now retired) who worked along her side for many years. She has a new puppy named Teddy (half German shepherd and half Great Pyrenees) who she is thinking of training for therapy as well.

Teresa loves everything nature and country living. When she isn’t counseling or life coaching, you will find her in the garden, taking walks with her dogs, or working on the construction of her tiny cabin and her goal of a self-sustaining lifestyle. Her highest values are a life centered in the love of Yahweh, obedience to Him, and helping others to clean out dysfunctions in order to be better prepared for our Savior’s return. Teresa has two adult children and five vivacious, also nature-loving grandkids.
